Evaluation of New Facility
- Power requirements – Ensuring that the power is either in place or coordinating
with the electrical contractor to have the proper power installed. Typically
dedicated power circuits are recommended for the data center.
- AC and ventilation requirements - Ensuring that the AC and/or ventilation
requirements are either in place or coordinating with the HVAC contractor to have
the proper ventilation and or separate AC unit installed.
- Network infrastructure requirements – Designing the necessary changes that will be
implemented at the new facility. Includes; cabling, power, racks, and decision on
new/replacement equipment.
- Equipment positioning requirements
- Communications
- Evaluation of Data and Voice needs
- Selection of carriers and services
- Scheduling of service installation
- Testing of services prior to move
Network Equipment
Networking Equipment, Server's, Printers/Scanners/Faxes/Copiers, Workstations, Laptops,
and
peripherals.
Should the company consider replacement of any
networking equipment at this
time since they will already be installing at the new location and there is a cost
savings in performing a replacement in conjunction with the move. It also allows for
having both pieces of equipment running at the same time which reduces the time
between breakdown and re installation.
Telephone System
Does system need to be replaced? Why?
What is the capacity of the existing system versus the growth needs of the company?
What is the feature set of the existing system versus the needs of the company?
Is there additional equipment required for the existing system to work at the new
facility?
